Ants In Sheets

Say I’m worthy enough to sleep

In this moment I don’t believe it,

Dogs outside on full alert

Scarce lightning and this neighborhood seems cursed,

Meanwhile I’m me feeling guilty

Swearing I’m missing a book worth of things I shouldn’t be

Am I supposed to be dancing around rooms

Whispering love songs to a dead broom

Claiming I’m on the right track feeling positive feedback,

Say I can lay down and rest

Tired and feeling slippery describes these hands surely something has been missed

Moments far from comfort far from walking blissed.

Ants are worry under these sheets

Preventing peace of mind and sleep oh no

Wish my heartbeat would slow

Wish I’d let this day go.
